Our Dancers Make History with Fleadh Cheoil Win!!!

Our amazing dancers from The Bernie O’Sullivan School of Irish Dancing recently competed in the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na h’Éireann: with resounding success!!!

Their journey to success began in June when they competed in Milltown in the Kerry district competition.  They qualified through to the next stage which was the Munsters held in Ennis in July.  Here, this young, dynamic team qualified through to compete in the prestigious All Ireland Event.

It was our schools first time ever competing in a Fleadh Cheoil event which made the journey all the more exciting and rewarding!

The All Ireland Event took place at the end of August in Drogheda and brought thousands of people to the town to experience the best our country has to offer in the line of musicians, dancers and singers.

Our young team performed exceptionally well and were crowned U12 All Ireland Céilí  Champions on the day!!!

Congratulations to Aoibheann O’Connor, Holly Arthur, Sadbh Sheehy, Laura Pototzki, Leona Delaney, Kate Horgan, Laura Wiley and Grace O’Shea.

Huge congrats to teachers Bernie O’Sullivan and Joanne Cashman on this momentous achievement!

On the day we were missing Anna Rawson and Róisín Llywellen who were a vital link in getting the team to the final.  A huge thank you to our super subs Kate and Grace who picked up the baton on the day and rallied to the end!

The team received a wonderful welcome back to Kenmare that evening where all their families, friends and members of the community awaited them with the gig rig in the Square.  Tourists in the vicinity gathered around to see our dancers perform a celebratory dance at the crossroads and joined in the celebrations.

Well done all!!!!
